Another legend lost - John Dwyer has passed.
I normally would not post this in such a public setting. A long time Porsche mechanic and racer has passed away. John Dwyer has passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Judy and the rest of their family and close friends.
I have met John several times during the past few years in Austin. He was a truly knowledgeable and personable. He will be missed by our community. John was currently working at Colvin Automotive and had also spent time at Moorespeed. Both shops are here in Austin. I know we will miss seeing that 73E cruising around. Btw, this 73E had WAY MORE miles than just about any car out there. John had extensive experience with wrenching and racing. He was always fun to speak with about these wonderful cars. I know that long time friends will realize the significance of this loss. I think Grady Clay was a good friend of his from his previous years in CO. Here is the information related to the service as posted through our PCA email list. This is how I found out about the loss. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It is with sadness that I convey the news of John Dwyer's passing on November 2nd of a heart attack while riding his bicycle to work. John was the service manager at Colvin Automotive and a long time club member and Porschephile. He loved preparing his cars for the track and then driving them as they should be driven. Donations are being welcomed by Flying Manes, Flying Manes Therapeutic Riding, Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish at 3125 North Lamar Saturday,November 6th at 10:00 AM followed by a reception, also at the funeral home. An online tribute to John can be found here: John Phillip Dwyer, Jr. 1945 - 2010 - Obituary - Tributes.com

I met John and Judy when they made the trip up to the Tour of Colorado. I ended up donating a shifter knuckle so John could get the Aubergine E back to Texas. My thoughts will be with him and his family.
