88 Carrera shock update ?s

i have an 88 carrera and the shocks have pretty much given up the ghost. it's time to renew all four and i was hoping for a bit of advice. i have read in previous posts that by doing bilsteins HD all the way around i will overdamped my shock sized torsion bars. I am curious if the best way to go is HD in the rear and sport in the front. i would like to get bigger torsion bars and some sway bars in the near future, but the date is still unknown. should i just do the aforementioned combo?

I see the shocks dying as an opportunity to renew the suspension (just in time for the upcoming auto-x season) and i have been thinking about bushings, a bump steer kit (my car has been lowered to euro ride height) and turbo tie rods as well. any thoughts on what bushings should be replaced and whether turbo tie rods and the bump steer kit would be a good investment at this time.

All advice is appreciated.

What would the labor be to install all of the parts?

What do you mean when you say "hard bushings?" do they squeek? I want to do an update, but not at the expense of streetability.

also was curious about the 22/28 combo most people i have seen run the 21/29, can you explain your setup?

thanks.

I Never had the chance to install them in my carrera. 22/28 is a good set up for autox and light track events. as far as hard bushings go in the pring plates I dont think you will hear squeeking. An experts opinion might be saught after though. It would be a pretty harsh set up for the rd however. Most any set up will though once you go beyond stock. every one seems to swear by HD bilstiens though. let me know through e-mail if you have other questions.

DP,

I upgraded my torsion bars to 23 and 29 and replaced my stock shocks with the adjustable Koni's. The Koni's have been great and they even replaced one that had a seal leak. If you are not doing your suspension all at once, the Koni's will provide you with adjustable damping that may match your current suspension components. Have fun with your research.
