Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec

How many miles are you getting on your Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec tires???
All street?
Street/DE/autocross mix?

I bought them for my 17" Kodiak "DE wheels", but I love these tires so much I am considering using them full time and selling my daily driver Fuchs/Bridgestone Potenza RE760's to fund more suspension goodies. I only drive the 911 about 6,000 miles a year plus 2 or 3 DE's so if they can go 15,000 or so I would be happy.

Thanks,
Dan

Interesting question. I just bought a set of these for my rears, haven't even installed them.

I'd strongly advise fitting a set rather than mixing them with another tire - much less a tire of a different design/compound that's older.

Encouraging

Any Carrera owners with multiple DE's have any mileage to report?

FWIW...
This may not seem like the best source for a tire recommendation, but the teams that actually want to be competitive in the 24 Hours of Lemons run the Direzza Star Specs and love them. Depending on the car and the experience of the drivers, it's possible to get two full days of racing out of one set. The Lemons rules limit tire wear at 190 or greater, so the only good options are the Star Specs and the Falken Azenis 615 (which was discontinued).

I chose to install Dunlop Direzzas on some Fikse FM10 17 inch wheels due to a 996TT brake
upgrade and i'll have to admit that the tires are awesome.
So far a little over 7000 kms and the wear is even ...

I will definitely buy another set, although wider when these wear out !

Cheers !

I have them on my car year round and have done 2 DE's. I have put about 4000 miles on my the tires. My rears are starting to show some wear. The DE's take a toll on my tires, but it could be just the way I drive. The fronts do not show much wear at all.

Only street driving for me but some hard sessions for sure. I have about 8000 miles and still going strong. I expect they'll last until 10K.

Thanks for the replies.
I think I am going to keep using my Fuchs/Bridgestones on the street untils the tires are gone and then re-consider.

Some pretty good feedback over on Rennlist also: Anyone running Dunlop Direzza Star Specs? - Rennlist Discussion Forums

The Club Sport needs new rubber so these might be the way to go and way cheaper than the R1's I just put on the SCarrera.

You need 4 of them or none of them.

Do not mix treads, compounds...

I drove a honda in a lemons race and can tell you that shaving tires has a great effect on longevity. the tires on the honda were some cheap general brand tires and they were consistant and held up well - no chunking. if you plan on using the tires on nice days and doing track days frequently i would have them shaved before i would worry about brand/model tire you use. if the use is more street then keeping the tread depth is important.
