looks like it got ripped off. it's not a factory one, judging from the cheap screen.

Good lessen to be learned: Don't go freeway speeds in reverse!!
You could use this as an oportunity to go ducktail. I think a duck would look killer on a widebody targa.

I'd say the trucking company owes you a new tail. Installed. I assume that the tail was on the car when the trucking company loaded it (backwards). In my view, this makes it not your fault and not the seller's fault.

It looks as if you could fill in those holes on the bottom, get that little bit off the top right, get the cover resprayed, and go back to the original grill if you like.
Regards Dave

Here's my guess -- and it's only a guess -- as to what happened.
The car was on the truck tail first. In the picture, it appears to be sitting "tail high." I'm guessing that after enough time at highway speed, with air pushing up under the tail, it simply ripped off or began to rip off (with the truck driver finishing the job) while the car was en-route. It seems to me that if this is what happened, the trucking company is at fault. Did you have insurance on the car while it was in transit?

I don't know If the seller insured the car. the seller arranged the shipment. I think this is my mistake, that I didn't check for insurance

When it was delivered...did you sign a release or anything that said y'all be happy?
The time to pitch a fit is when the thing shows up fuched up.....the shipper is liable....dude, scream loud and hard, longer you wait the less you gets....

The problem is that I'm in Israel and the car is in NJ.
If I was there things where different. I will ask the dealer that I bought the car from him to help me with it. I can always put him a negetive feedback on Ebay. it's his responsible too in my opinion.

The dealer is not responsible, that's for sure.
You must go after the shipping company. I'm surprised they didn't already offer you something. That car just traveled backwards, on the highway, exposed, from Chicago to New Jersey in lots of severe weather. Who made the deal with the shipping company, you? How did you find them? How did you pay, how did you contact them? The dealer might be helpful to you, but I'm quite sure that they will tell you to get lost if you ask them for money. They put every form of protection on that e-bay auction, they are 100% safe.

Ebay
Well, its the shippers responsibility. They do an inspectionon the car when it is picked up to note all damage. The seller should have gotten a copy of this. But the shipper is suppose to be insured for things like this.
By the way I have a Silver tail, the piece that is ripped off of yours. Original Part. I was going to Ebay it for $500. PM me if you are interested and willing to pay for shipping.

Bummer, YBN! What's with these guys delivering them soaking wet? Did yours take on water? Going backwards, I can only guess it did. My '84 was delivered on an open trailer pointed the RIGHT direction and was UNDER a Mercedes SUV but somehow managed to fill up with a bunch of water. The driver said it rained like he'd never seen before at his overnight in Louisiana and we both speculated the SUV was in the worst possible location and actually managed to FUNNEL the water into my leaky side seals on the targa. So I can sorta relate. I am sincerely sorry for you, my friend. You'll get something from the shipping company. It will be like pulling teeth but hang in there.
