Hi all I am trying to get this ebay mess back together the seller said with a little elbow grease this will be a show car well my Fault for being trusting and not ordering a PPI price was decent and there is something to work with so live and learn. My question is this I am trying to order the heat exchanger hoses and there are like 10 different ones for this car in the parts section 1980 SC anyone know exactly which ones I need what the part numbers are and also anyone in or near Queens NY that can daignose and fix cold start/warm up problem Thanks for this and all of the previous help

From the Pelican catalog:

Left side hose-901-211-195-01-OEM

Right side hose-911-211-274-00-M93

These 2 hoses should connect to the heat exchangers via holes in the engine tin.

You bet.

In your pic, it appears that the top fitting on the fuel filter is not connected to the fuel line. Is that correct or maybe it's the angle of the pic?

Just the angle of the pic but the car takes forever to warm up spitting sputtering and stalling for about 20-25 mins then it runs pretty good I know it can be a whole list of things from vacum leaks to fuel pressure that is why I am looking for someone in the area to check it out all of the Porsche guys I know will not work on a 30 year old CIS they are spoiled and only work on newer models where is the pride ion the Porsche History among these guys? : >

Don't sweat it, my friend. There are several Pelicans in the NY area.

You might want to start a separate thread on your starting/running issues, if you haven't already.

Before buying any hoses, I'd go underneath and make sure the air valves (Flapper boxes) are in good shape. If they are rusted out and don't work, you'll have no heat.

Consider deleting the auxillary blower and hoses altogether to get lots of room. It can be done by blocking the right side and re-routing the hose on the left down to the heater box; do a search.

Or add SSI's.

Consider eliminating the A/C as well. Compressor plus all other A/C parts weigh a good 60 lbs.

Any left-overs from the cruise control like the Servo etc.? If it doesn't work or if you don't use it, remove to make more room.

Like most "bargains", it'll require a lot of work and $$ after the purchase.

Does it have the pop-off valve in the airbox and hydraulic chain tensioners?

Thanks for the advise Gunter it has a pop off valve already as for the tensioners not rally sure is there a way to tell? If I remove the hoses altogether does that mean I will have no heat?

I think i see an oil line runing to the left side chain cover in the above photo so i think you might have the updated tensioners.
And yes...no hoses=no heat.

You actually have carerra tensioners, I can see the oil line on the drivers side chain cover. So you've got one thing of the list already!

It appears to have the hydraulic tensioners. I notice the telltale small dia. steel oil line running down the left side near the distributer.

Well that is good news a little money saved and more to spend on everything else it needs the guy said the heads were done 3 years ago maybe they added tensioners then. The car runs great when warm as I said, and it only has 94000 miles shifts good just the cold start that remains an issue. The body is in very good shape it was turned into a cabriolet from a targa in 1984 but a decent job was done and the top is perfect. I just replaced all of the calipers and brakes the interior is shot and thanks to the for sale forum I have been collecting the interior parts piece by piece thanks for all of the help and advice

As suggested above start a new thread on your cold start issue. It should be pretty easy to fix.

Thumbs up

Yes, you can have heat with the blower and top hoses removed, see picture.
Find the parts for this conversion on Pelican "Parts for sale and wanted."

If the flapper boxes underneath don't work or are not connected, it doesn't matter what you do on top, you'll have no heat.

Also, this one had the A/C compressor and Cruise Servo removed to get lots of room.

I strongly recommend you'll get the Bentley SC Repair Manual to learn more about the 3.0 engine with Bosch K-Jetronic CIS and other stuff.
