On my 1984 (ROW), red tag and yellow handle.

Interesting topic.....I wonder what the different tags mean?

Cheers,

Geoff.

I've a yellow tag, US Carrera. I believe in the "market" theory. Seems to hold true for SCs as well; green vs. blue early on, and red vs. yellow in later models. Grun und blau are too similar, so changing eventually to red/yellow would make sense. I won't be able to sleep now.....

Resurrecting this post. Anyone figured this little mystery out yet?

My tool kit was purchased second hand and has a grey tag attached.

Its been two years since this question was posed and I was curious.

Its gotta have some actual meaning, and I've been through all the other threads today.

Scholars? Historians? Someone in the know?

Yellow tag on my US mkt '85 Cab. Have no idea whether the screwdriver is original or not, and I don't have one of those elbow-ended hoop-topped thingys with the spring on it that's depicted in Blue83Cab's photo. Interesting looking tool it is, WTH's it for?

It's a removable tow hook.

My '88 has a gray tag. I'll bet it designates who the inspector was who loaded the tool kit. If something's missing, they're answerable. I've seen colored paints on critical assembly pieces that I believe are a way to make sure an inspector checked that bolts were tight, fuel hoses were snug, etc.
