barrett 67 911

Was browsing through what was sold at Barrett-Jackson and came across this 67 911 http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=168409
What's up with the ride height? It says it has: "... rare early original fuchs "heart" forged alloys" I have never seen these before...are they in fact original? Did they come on a 911? They look very "928'ish" ....just curious.

Looks 928"ish" to me too. But I LOVE the ducktail...a very popular option back in '67, along with the CD player.

It's not so bad for $4000 - that leaves plenty of change to set it right if they want to. The phone dial wheels should be the first to go, heat forged or not.

Tough to believe Barrett accepted that car for auction. Reportedly, for every 1 car that is accepted for auction, 7 are turned away!!!!! Maybe they've got an 'economy lot' just like the local used car dealer. -- Curt

I was parusing through the B-J auction listing and was surprised to see that they were also selling a 1988 Porsche 944. A nice enough car (BTW; I used to own an '86, I think that they're great - just not a 911) and it sold for $6K or $8K. I suspect that B-J puts a couple of cheap cars such as this into each auction to see if the bottom of the market is moving or not. Either that or it may have been a package deal where they took that and the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 for sale from the same seller. As far as the buyer of the 944, that price seemed a little steep to me. Good 944s can be found for less then that by watching the classifieds.

Hello

If you look at the body you will see that the door gaps are not as they should be ( bondo ) and they even "lost" the torsion tube hole. Other first glances are: Wrong seats and cheap mirror not to mention the southstaatestyle nose down look. Also no chromtrim in the windshieldrubber says a lot about the last craftsmen ( OK they removed the glas for the paintjob )

The wrong rims are not a problem as long the Fuchs are in the package.

Now i feel 4000$ are to much in the US marked for a driver with unknown mechanical condition and deeper lurking rustproblems inside. But it sure returns the investet "restoration" done previous. Now the attitute from the restoration was look good and run somehow ( Webers, maybe they trashed the original rare solexes, or sold them seperate on ebay ? ).

It would had been a better investement to buy the car before the butchers came. Everything they did isn´t wort to much and has to be redone sooner or later.

Grüsse
