I thought about that, but this problem seemed to come on overnight, which made me think it wouldn't be an adjustment issue. Car was running great up until then.

On my 82 SC the fuel pump also runs with the ignition on, before the engine is started. It's that way since I own the car.

Engelbert,

Obviously you have some anomaly in your wiring. The fuel pump for CIS engines from '76 - '83 do not run until the air flow sensor plate breaks the ground contact to energize the FP relay. You can verify this by checking terminal #85 of the FP relay socket. This will show absence of ground contact. Use a TL (test light) connected to a 12 volt source and connect the probe to terminal #85 (FP relay socket).

Thanks Tony for the info, I will check this out. Since the car was like that all the time, I did not even think about it. Now I have more work. :)

Also with all the info above, I now need to check the injectors.
