Exclamation Might need BIG help with wiring on an 86 911

Guys, I have an 1986 911 that I got as a semi disassembled roller. See the wiring bundle that is cut off in the accompanying photo. The connected end runs up under the dash near the middle of the dash but I don't know what was cut off from the end down at the floor. Does anyone know what is missing from the end of this bundle of wires and the small one next to it? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Show me where the other end goes, so I can tell which harness it is. I know it's sometimes difficult to get a picture but one with a little sharper focus would help.

Thanks,
Jeff

There is a couple AC control lines that run in that direction from the console to the smugglers box and to the thermal cooler.

Cut back the plastic sheath on the wires so we can see what colors they are. They may just be wiring that went to the console for the AC, stereo speaker balance knob, central door locks.

Guys, thanks for the input so far. Here are a couple of additiional pics. The first one shows the wiring colors. The harness goes up directly behind the radio and splits. The largest portion goes through the firewall (where my finger is pointing) and comes out behind the hvac tubing in the front trunk. Before going through the firewall a small portion splits off and goes left and a small portion goes right.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'd have to do a little digging to be sure, but here's what I think:

The main harness travels down into the tunnel and connects to 4 or 5 connectors that are on the end of other harnesses. One is large, with a lot of pins, the others are smaller, typically two pins. The small friction-taped branch ends up in the center console, near the heater controls. The branch in the vinyl jacket heads toward the rear of the car and I believe contains the rear speaker wiring.

You're going to want to replace that whole harness, I think. Patching it would be a royal pain. I think there's a guy parting out a Carrera similar to yours right now. It seems like I saw a listing for it in the 911 classifieds.

I have the carpet out of my 87 cab. Both of my seats have 2 wire bundle each. Other wire bundles run to heat controler. Factory radio rear speaker wire may be in that bundle. I am still removing/replacing a very bad stereo/security system in my car. So far, I'm 3 weeks into it and can finally see an end to me mess. Hope this helps.
