Window Seals
Need tech help. Have a 79 SC. Want to eliminate metal trim in all window seals. I remember someone saying 993 or 964 window seals work as a replacement using no metal trim. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Michael,
Take a look at the following thread. Maybe you have seen it, but it does a fairly good job of the discussion you were hoping for. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57162&highlight=window+seal+trim My opinion is stick with the old style molding and trim. Keep the car accurate for its age and besides, you might think the glass is seated correctly only to find in a hard turn it pops out if you use new trim in an old body frame. The specs are slightly different.

I am installing the 993 qtr window seals on my 80SC. The glass fits fine and a test fit looks real nice. I especially like the look w/o the bottom trim.
If you are doing the windshield, you need to use a 964 windshield as well as the 964 trim. cheers -Brad 80SC |

They changed the widow seals in 1988. If you order these, they will eliminate that nasty metal strip and give you a cleaner look. The specs are the same for older cars. Orginality be damned.
