Carrera strut top mount question??

What is the deal with the "tack welded" nuts on the strut top plates. When removing mine the welds broke on the nuts to the plate...are they supposed too or ? I thought new ones would be a bit beefier but they are the same tacked welds and look weak. Does it matter if they are welded captive or not?

Also what is the modification to get better camber out of the stock mounts in terms of modifying the strut top mounting points? I will be looking for max camber and wonder if I should do this now?

They are weak and failures are not infrequent. You can reuse them without them welded captive, but it easier to work with captive.

We routinely re-weld them if they break free.

To get a bit more camber you can open up the bolt holes in the chassis. Use a file. You might get an extra 1/4 degree.
