Looking for help identify elec conn in front compartment

I am troubleshooting some blower problems and found some interesting wiring problems in the front compartment.

My courtesy light doesn't work there and I had some un-connected connectors. I explored this last night to rectify. The hood was off for painting by the previous owner.

The wires for the light are BK & BR/WH with a female connector. I found another male connector with the same combination, however it was plugged into something else which I now believe was a mistake by the painter. It would seem logical that the matching color / gauge pair (1 male and one female) would go together. However, that leaves me not knowing how to match up the other connections. Here is what I have:

Male - BR/WH & BK - Thin gauge
Female - BR/WH & BK - Thin gauge - Origin courtesy light
Female - BR & BK - Thick gauge
Male - BK/GR & BR - Thin gauge
Male - RD/WHI & BR - Thick gauge

All of the connectors are of the same style and they are all bunched together in the same area (near hood hinge on right side). I am assuming the like pairs go together for the courtesy light, but not sure which Male should go with the open female or if they are all unused options. I couldn't find any help in the Bentley manual.

This is an 88 911. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

You can download the PET.

Larry,

If PET doesn't work out, here's a page from our "well loved" '86 factory manual.

It should be compatible with your '88.

Good luck,

Gerry

Thanks for posting that dia; It helps. I went and followed the wire with the female connector and it goes to the windshield washer outlet on that side, so it must be a spare, as I don't have heated washers that I know of. That leaves two males without females, so I will assume for now they are harness connectors for things I don't have.

Thanks for your assistance. I appreciate it.

Male - BK/GR & BR - Thin gauge
Male - RD/WHI & BR - Thick gauge
THESE TWO GO TOGETHER BUT I CANNOT TELL WHERE THEY GO

Larry,

Not so sure about the heated washers.

Here's a copy of our window sticker.

Wires.

Larry,

You have brought up an interesting issue.

If our Owner's Manual is correct, the windshield
washer line heating is temperature dependent.

However, I cannot find anything in my factory manual
that senses the ambient temperature.

Let's hope that someone chimes in on this one.

Thanks again for your help.
