1979 SC EGR line removal
I'm in the middle of doing an exhaust back date for my '79. It has a smog pump, EGR, and all that good stuff. My biggest dilemma is how I'm going to remove the EGR line without cutting it. I need to save everything for the biennual smog testing. I've been contemplating severing the line, and then rigging up a coupler for when it comes time for testing. However, I'd rather not bastardize the valuable goods.

The line into the air box is retained by a rubber gasket in the fitting. I tried to remove the fitting from the plastic and it requires too much possibilities of breakage so I plugged it with a long bolt and sealant.
The air injection to the heads can be plugged with 10x1mm thread which is 10mm fine thread. I havent figured the cross pipe but you ll not use that anyway with an exhaust backdate. I think a ball bearing and a pipe cap but I just changed the cross pipe to one with no hole. Bruce |
