Rear brake hose removal - help!

I got the front hoses removed fine, and the rear inboard fittings closest to the motor loosened up ok, but I'm having trouble getting the flare wrench on the hose side of the outboard connection - the bracket has a lip and seems like it's blocking any angle of attack with the wrench. In figure #2 on page 132 of the 101 Projects book, it's the fitting on the opposite side of the bracket in the photo.

I can get the 11mm wrench on the hard line fitting no problem, but can't get the wrench on the soft line end at all. Is there a trick here? Did a search and can't find a thread related to this.

Thanks in advance (again)

On page 132, behind the wrench in the pic.....there is a keeper. Pull that out and you can free the two fittings. Then you can get two wrenches on and break the connection.

I use a pair of channel locks or vice grips and then tap the wrench to slip the keeper up and out....hope I'm clear on the process.

Joe Bob -
yup, thanks, it was easy once I got the clip off . I didn't see it there - a guy I used to work with used to say 'if it was a snake it would have bit me'....right there in plain sight! End of a long day yesterday.

Got all 4 lines loosened up now, and all the hard lines are intact

thx again

You're welcome, I've been under more than a few P-cars and VWs in my day. But just in case I pulled out Wayne's book to see if I was right.
