Fuse Question
 

Would it be a good idea to fuse the wires that are connected directly to the battery + or are they fused elsewhere? Thanks in Advance.

If you want to fuse them you need to find out what they are so you can determine a fuse value anyway; so finding out what they are is a good first step.

I would think all would be fused elsewhere but do what Gogar suggests to make certain they are.

Without knowing your model/year it is very questionable as what is and what is not fused.

As an example, I fused several items which I thought, were lacking on our '86.

The car is a 1975 911. The wires are a #10 & #12 Ga. with a ring terminal bonding them together. The other is a #12 with a ring terminal. Both sets enter the factory wiring harness.I have already removed all the patched wiring, all the wiring diagrams I can find are unreadable.

The secondary lines are usually all going to a fuse box. But the primary lines like ignition switch and starter are direct lines from the battery. What particular circuit are you talking about? Let us know what are you planning to do and we'll look at the wiring diagram for suggestion/s. Keep us posted.

Did not know the ignition switch was not fused. Every day is a learning adventure.

There are several electrical components (SC's) that get direct power from the battery (via ignition switch) without going through a fuse. Some of these on top of my head are:

CSV (cold start valve)
FP relay @ 87
Starter solenoid @ 50 (yellow wire)
CDI @ 15
Parking lights
Dashboard illumination lights (fuel gauge, speedo-meter,tachometer, etc.)
Horn relay

And probably many more that I could not remember now.

If a conductor, weather it be a 12v or 600v travels inside anything it needs to be fused. This is a no brainer.
