Angry Clutch: Not Disengaging

As i tried to put my 2 year project (1970 911) back on the road today... i had one very BIG problem,I hope not.

I start the engine up...then try to put the ol' 901 in gear via pull type clutch and all i get is GRINDING...so i say well i have to tighten up the linkage...so i did.

After each adjustment i try it again....no luck! *****... i adjusted the linkage at the transmission so that there NO play at the pedal....result: i pushed the car, while in gear, clutch in, no go! The clutch is not disengaging.... damn this is frustrating.

I look at the clutch fork (motion is about 3/8" travel) at the tranny and see it pull the t-out bearng out. Wht the heck is going on here????...

Any Help would be GREATLY appreciated!

perhaps the disc is stuck to the flywheel. happens a lot from sitting. start it in gear and once you get rolling, push in the clutch pedal and go on and off the throttle a few times to unstick it. 2nd gear is better than 1st. it's tougher.

I recently had this problem and it turned out to be the release arm pivot ball, which broke off its threaded base. Tip-off is if the release arm has alot of play when grabbed by hand.

I think I currently have the same problem as well, on my 70E. Haven't had the time or energy to dive into it yet, but my money is on the roll/pivot pin.

These things are terrible. Mine has been replaced 3-4 times over the past decade, basically every time the clutch or trans was worked on for anything whatsoever.

The one time it did fail on me on the road, it was of course about 125 miles from home, on a Sunday.

This time I was right down the street from home (whew)! Nursed her home in 2nd.
