Porsche Crest 911 Electrical Gremlen

Have a problem with electrical on a 1976 911S, 2.7,
Problem; replaced fuel pump with newer style pump which required new electrical connectors to the pump, Lost my dash, fuel gage, tack, and fuel pump power.
Replaced red relay, and black relay. Still have headlights and turn signals, starter cranks over but no fuel pump sound, also have put on a 3 wire Perma-tune CD box.
Started out as intermittent problem, after the fuel pump was installed now will get nothing to the fuel pump.
Thanks!

The ghost in my 71 turned out to be one of the electrical plugs that connects behind the dash through into the trunk under the gages. All I had to do was reach under the dash and hit the connector and I was good to go, for a while. Finally I cleaned out the contacts on all the connectors in the harness and have had no problems since.

Thanks for the info, think I may have pulled on the fuel pump wires too hard?

jrs,

Start with the basic troubleshooting procedure and it would slowly and surely direct you to the problem. First, check the following and see what you got:

Turn the IS (ignition switch) to ON/RUN position (not start):
1). Do you have power at the FP relay socket @ 87a?
2). Do you have power @S12 (fuse #12) and @S21 (fuse #21)?

Use a test light to confirm presence of power at the above locations and keep us posted.

Tony

Check for power @ 87a, 87 with key on but no power,
Fuse 12 and 21 no power.
Jumped fuse 6 to 7 and get power to pump and dash but no spark to plugs wires.

you might want to consider an MSD instead of the permadoom.

Fix on the Gremlin of my 1976 911S,
Grabbed the electrical part of the ignition switch and the switch came apart so I replaced the switch with the old switch that was replaced last year and I get the car back to running condition. Yea for saving the old switch!
