+1

you don't specify if this is a racecar or streetcar. racecar I assume. the last 100lbs is the hardest to drop.

acid dip the chassis.
remove all unused brackets as mentioned.
remove unnecessary cage bars and replace with thinner gauge or delete altogether.
ceramic brakes (not legal in your race class?)
lighter wheels/tires.
single lightweight race seat.
delete the dash.
delete the bumpers and use covers only.
etc etc. you have to be creative and willing to spend $

This does become significant...

I went from a beefy 220# down to 180#... and then drifted back up to around 192#

I like to eat.. If I can maintain 185# I and my Doctor would be happy...

You might crib from here:
AUTO PATUTSCHNICK
Empty weight near 1750 lbs with a 6 speed, GT3 brakes, 964 based motor, big wheels and tires, cage.
That means with mag case motor and trans, S brakes and smaller wheels/ tires it'd be very light, likely sub 1600. How far do you want to go?

Ceramic brakes are similar in weight to 930 brakes, fyi, maybe a pound or two lighter overall.

Well...

depending on what is done already, lots of opportunities or few or somewhere in between. Be careful of deceptive advertising practices. For example, I cut out my rear seat for serviceability. Weighed a whopping 6 pounds. Aluminum panels weight about 3-4 pounds. Also note that scales can sometimes be off.

My car weighed around 1950 with oil and fuel but no driver last time I corner balanced. I recently made simple carbon fiber/led tailights for about $40, so now I will lose another 2-4 pounds of rear weight (versus 993 stock taillights). Then I will make a carbon fiber frame for the polycarbonate rear window... that will save me another 1-3 pounds as I will no longer need the rubber gasket/seal. And the project will keep me away from those provocative Pelican Parts BB Off Topic picture threads... well maybe not.

Brake rotors and rotors/hats can be heavy... mine are really light. I like the idea of a carbon fiber tailbase... I'd do that instead of fiberglass on a fresh build if I could get the money right. I like the idea of a light Voltphreaks battery if the money is right.

I am curious about the 1850 pound example here... details on that would be interesting.

f/glass doors? I'm at about 1975 lbs and glass doors are the only big thing left. but for a street car I wouldn't/won't do it.

Details... nothing secret or out of the realm for a person who wants to have a light car in the end

69 tub, long wheel base...

Tub is stripped .. roof cut off

Fenders are cut off...

All above replaced with carbon/kevlar/or glass

All windows are plastic..

etc...

BTW my car still has steel trailing arms, I bet I lose 5 more pounds when I swap them for alum
