Ducktail and Rear A/C Condenser?

Can a fiberglass/carbon fiber ducktail be used with the rear A/C condenser?

I have read conflicting descriptions. Some indicate that the non-metal base ducktails (fiberglass and carbon fiber) are not designed to include the mounting of the rear A/C condenser. Is this true?

Thanks.

I don't think that's true. If you look at how the condenser is mounted, most of the load is supposed to be at the hinges. The center support is just extra.

When I mount my duck, I'm not going to remove my a/c condenser.

The condenser fits between the hinges. It is simple enough to attach further bracing to support the condenser either to the fiberglass or the hinge brackets. I've been running this config for some time, no issues.

My condenser was supported by the passenger side hinge and a center support from a rib on the stock decklid. When I fitted a fiberglass ducktail it didn't have a center rib so I couldn't use the center support. I fabbed up a support for the drivers side hinge with aluminum angle form Home Depot. It's worked fine for 2 years.

if you order from TRE he has an option that puts another support or something into it ...

Hi there - any way you could share a pic of your fabrication on the drivers side hinge? I want to do the same thing and would love to see how you approached it.

thanks,

Jim
