With any investment I would travel to see the car. very little rust to him might be a lot of rust to you. Paint will also be a issue down the line. I would wait for the right SC but if you like the older stuff go see it, a 300.00 airline ticket and you wont loose any sleep after the fact.

There has been a lot of picking over of the p-cars that come up here on E-bay.So I figured what the hell and would get a few opinions . to high , to low , set it on fire......... |

-respray from apparent original silver
-"smile" is not flush with bumper; probably rusted -Tail added on, car rebadged as Carrera. Decoding of VIN confirms it is an S. -"Very factory" flares mean they are the exact opposite -JUST ASK ME about "very little rust" at the leading edge of trunk under weathe stripping. Gawd...tip of iceberg people -Is that the right coil? Looks funny to me -Potential problems from OLD A/C lines -What kinda tires?? They gotta go -Untidy boot/stray wires - trying to figure out what some monkey did to rewire something 15 years ago is a total PITA -Owner sounds genuine; is not a salesman -Engine sounds tasty; receipts would be a must -Still got old-style exhaust valve covers -Glad to hear about new a/c parts but until a/c is working it will be priced as non-a/c car This car will probably fall between Bruce Anderson's low of 7.7 and high of 11.5k...adjust this down (according to his guidelines) of 10-20% for non-original factors such as flares/tail/badging and bad/changed color paint. Maybe adjust it back up for documentation of fresh engine with studs and tensioners. All told I'll keep my '72 basket case. -d [This message has been edited by dtw (edited 07-06-2001).] |

Heh heh...I would have filed down some of the sharp edges on that post...but I didn't know you were one of the "family"!!
I think it'll stay below 10k b/c of the ease of acquiring cheap SC's. Pretty nice car, though, all around, just the usual trouble spots from 26 year old car. And of course I have to keep my car; I'll never get my money out. Cheers! Good luck. -d ------------------ Dave 1972 911T (E motor) RSR replica project http://members.nbci.com/dtwinters/garage/ |
