Early 911s and trailing arm monoball problem

Currently in the process of upgrading my 72T's rear trailing arms from fabricated steel to aluminum. Installed smart racing monoballs on the trailing arms to replace the rubber bushings. It looks like the monoballs are about 2mm too wide to fit in the torque tube mounts (both arms). Anyone else run into the same problem? It looks like torch and hammer time... Ahh, the joys of putting new components into a 29 year old car.

Once I get over this hump its onto the 930 rear brake upgrade installation and then the 3.6 gets bolted in.

Thanks to all the 3.6 guys out there (Dr. Steve, Bill, Jack,Thom and now Kurt). You guys have been a great source of info.

Are you sure their to long? I just did the same thing to my 72 about 3 months ago. When i went to install them, I thought they wouldn't fit. Smeared grease in and around them and had to jimmy them in. Tap, tap with a hammer and in they went.
