Yes it is engaging because the fan is spinning.

Here are some pictures of all of the electrical stuff I could think of to take pictures of. If you could check out the fuse setup to make sure it looks correct. Also please note that the 12 pin connection by the drivers side shock tower is left open in this picture but when I have been trying to start the car I put tape around each individual pin connection to make sure the metal isnt touching. Also, the rear window heater has been taken out and the wires are shown in a picture but the connection is still in the car and has not been removed. This is the same for the heater blower, ac, rear hoos light, and cruise control. Should I remove the wiring from the car for these completely or does it not matter?
Let me know if you would like pictures of anything else. Also, there are two grounding wires on the rear hood. I have the hood off. Is that a problem? If you can think of anything that I did or any part that I removed that may be the reason that the plugs arent firing please let me know.

Thanks

Skip the wires for now. You would get some popping and attempted starts if the wires and or plugs were only corroded. You are not getting anything but a spinning engine.

The fuses on the left side of the engine bay are not engine management stuff. There is a 14 pin connector near that area that can give you information. But you need a Fluke to test.....any motorheads that are friends?

Get a meter and I can talk you through it....hell, I'll even ship the Bentley manual to you if you promise to send it back.

May even want to jiggle the famous green wire that comes out of the distributor while having someone crank the engine, very possible that once you have disturbed it , it is now open

Thanks for all of the help.

Does anyone know where the cheapest place to buy a 911 sc bentley manual is?
Thanks

I just got a multimeter and I am going to start testing. What should I start with. I was thinking of starting with the little two wires on the ignition coil. But on the ignition coil it has an image telling me not to do it. Will it cause any problems?
Thanks
Scott

First check pin #15 after pulling the CDI plug and turning on the ignition. You should have 12v.

If no 12v at 15, check fuse 22 in front trunk. If 22 is good, ignition switch is suspect.

If there is 12v, check cranking voltage

31/d is ground
7 is cranking voltage

Joe Bob 11-28-2010 12:02 PM

Spark plug wires if stock are 3ohm resistance.
Ignition rotor is 1 ohm or 5 ohm if euro style rev limit rotor

Joe Bob 11-28-2010 12:07 PM

firing order, 1-6-2-4-3-5
#1 is left rear when looking at engine.

FRONT
3----6
2----5
1----4
REAR

rotor turns COUNTER clockwise

Joe Bob 11-28-2010 12:09 PM

Z1 on your crank pulley is TDC, Z1 should be straight up and down, rotor will point at the notch in the dizzy body when at TDC.

Rotor turns counter clockwise

Joe Bob 11-28-2010 12:25 PM

Crud,,,,yer right. Even though the BENTLEY says, clockwise, '78 to '83 SC is COUNTER Clockwise.

Found another Bentley error.....page 280-2. Clearly says clockwise......
