Has porsche really lost it's way?

The feeling started late last year - I started to see 996 on my way home ia different light. Mostly I liked the rear end....and then it happened. Pictures of the 2002 models started appearing, and then stories of 320 hp engines....

Well, to make a long story short..... I've just popped 'round to the local p-car dealer and I am THOROUGHLY overwhelmed by feelings of desire for a black on black coupe in the showroom.

It's just plain a nice car. Woudl I miss the visceral feeling of my (admittadly pretty damned cool) SC? Sure I would, but then again I miss the BMW 2002 that I drove in college kid too, but that doesn't mean I can't move ahead.

Fortunately (?) I don't have anywhere near the $100K Canadian it takes to buy one of these machines so the whole exercise is acedemic.

It's a nice car boys!

Jasper,

I'm with ya on this one. Evolve or die

The new cars are really, really, nice. A little bigger to, and you know that means something to me.

That said, I still think the true 911's are the best on the road for a number of reasons (early, mid, SC, or Carrera, they're all great cars).

I currently drive a 944, a water-pumper...and so far I've had nothing but small, annoying problems with the cooling system. Nothing catastrophic, but none the less, annoying. As a matter of fact, I think my "only 15K miles old" waterpump is leaking, again.

I ought to just shut up....not like I'm going to get any sympathy in here.

Anybody got a nice 911 for sale? Give me a ring.

Own one of each!

Anyone that can truly afford a new 996 (not stretch to buy one), can afford the 996 AND a SC or earlier 911. That way you can have your cake and eat it too. Some days you take the raw Porsche, others you drive the refined Porsche. I would love to have a comfortable, 320HP Porsche; even if it does have water in it.
