not on hand. Rain started and the car's under wraps. Got an old AC knob and mounted it in the center of the blanking cover. Made the cover a snug fit so I use the knob as a handle to get at the iPod. Radio/head unit is iPod compatible, so I never really need to get at it.

Hell. it's only water!
OK nineball here's a pretty bad shot of the cover hiding the iPod. Tonyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1327031891.jpg |

Cloggie- Nice job w the A/C ducts, that's a really "ccccool" idea. What did you use for the ducts? Would like to do this on my 911 some day if I ever get the A/C back in properly. Len :) |
I am 6'4" and made mine functional by removing it and placing it in the landfill where it belongs.;)

LOL! I am constantly complaining about the reach required to get anything out of "the black hole". How many times have you ever almost hit something while reaching down in there?
You guys are really clever. That is all I can say. |
WOW! I like that a lot! Site doesn't say if it would work with an earlier (1976) car. Shows 993.
Sure is purdy, Tony console envy |

heliolps2- How hard is it to reach the handbrake handle? It seems to be hidden under a cover of some sort? Len :) |

it has a sliding cover. just push the cover back and grab the e-brake or heater controls, then slide the cover closed. |

A water bottle holder for me. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1702568133.jpg Printed on a 3D printer, filled with foam for insulation. It hold a standard size water bottle just perfect, and keeps it cold longer. I painted it to almost match the interior color. I will have to order an expensive custom color match to get the color perfect, and it was not worth that to me. This is close enough. |
Gbody.. on here every morning. My version of reading the paper with a cup of coffee.
Been a while and have removed the console for better leg room. I went to Tap Plastics and bought some pieces of 1/4” black plastic sheeting. I cut 4 pieces to create a recess for the iPod holder cover to fit on to. Cut another piece, to be a tight fit, that slipped into the console that rested on the side and top pieces. I used Velcro to attach the inside pieces so it could be reversed. Once all fit. I removed the iPod holder and traced the size of the iPod onto the plastic cover. Cut it out, made a rectangular box to hold the iPod. The cover is just another piece of plastic pressed into the console. The console underwent several conversions. Had ac vents, gauges, and usb outlets. It was nice having the room for things but hated long distance drives with my right leg hitting the console. |

This is a cross post from the 3D printing thread, but thought I would post here as well.
After untold hours learning Fusion and getting it to do what I want, here is the final version of the centre console system I have been building for way too long. Guts of it are the auto heat system, 3D printing matching holders for the AC temp and AC fan controls along with the inlet air for the little fan that senses interior temperature. I had to disassemble the whole auto heat system and relocate the servo to behind this console, it connects to the original wires to the heater boxes via a custom Bowden cable Build also includes a place for the PCCM box that allows you to connect your phone, a cubby hole to hold the phone and whatever else the wife wants to put there, a 7 light display with all the warning lights for the brake system (fluid low, circuit pressure mismatch and park brake), plus windshield washer fluid low, oil cooler fan indicator and check engine light from the Motec. ...that and the hazard, rear window defogger, electric antenna lift switch and the alarm system switch...well, it took a lot longer than I thought. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1709415881.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1709415881.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1709415881.jpg Still lots to do, designing and printing the gubbins that align the rotary AC switches to the correct orientation and provide the "click", printing new labels that read right on the backlit switches and of course the knee pad centre piece that I am trying to design and print right now. Then its cover the green part in the proper vinyl and putting it all together. D. |
I like mine as it is. A good place to put my dark glasses or phone.

I saw some nice idea's but got a bit stuck in the dismantling...
what's the next step ? I got the console loose, the black plastic piece in the back, some side screws so that the buttons became loose. Was able to undo the hazard connection and the window heater... what's the next step ? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1709465658.jpg |
