ANyone running Buckley wheels (Keizer) on the track?

I'm trying to find out how durable they are as no one around here has run them and I would hate to buy two sets and have issues..

Thanks!

I'm not running them, but know of some that have had issues snapping the bolts, particularly on the rears. Might be driving style (one individual is a particularly aggressive/fast driver), but it could be due to galling/corrosion. I heard Buckley had some different bolts he started using - might be worth asking him about it before buying.

Gary, we have updated the bolts to a larger diameter (went to 3/8" dia vs 5/16) and have not had an issue since. Keep in mind that these are light weight wheels and will bend if you hit something hard with them. But they are easily rebuildable if you do bend one. I have been running them personally for over three years now and have never bent one. The first set of wheels made to these specs are still on a car and working great getting podium finishes at the last three events (and a rookie at that!).

Another issue, though cosmetic, was the powder coating on the centers had a tendency to peel. We have since gone to annodized centers thus solving that problem.

If you want to discuss any concerns, please call me at 817-239-7969.

Thanks,'
Jim Buckley

P.S. if anyone wants to upgrade their bolts to the 3/8's size, please contact me.

Thank you for the update Jim and I hope you understand the reason I am asking for peer experiences. You have been excellent with your responses to my questions and i'm close to decision time. Can you explain the comments about bending the outers from ham fisted mounting? I'm certainly not gentle with regards to curbing and have never damaged a (CCW) wheel, would like to continue not worrying about it.

Gary,

With regards to mounting, these are some of the easiest wheels I have ever mounted or dismounted a tire from. If the installer is not careful with the bead breaker and contacts the rim, it might bend. If they do their job correctly and push against the tire, no problem.

As for hitting rumble strips and low curbs, dropping wheels over apexes, ect, I am as hard as anyone in this regard and have not bent a wheel to date. I have had customers go off in a violent spin and hit rocks or deep ruts at a right angle and did bend an outer rim.

I hope this helps.

Jim

CCW's bend when you hit the Armco barriers at the Glen too... I can attest to that fact personally.
