Goodyear fan belt!
Who here has bought the 9.5 x 7.10 fan belt made by Goodyear with the Porsche letters on the belt and made in Mexico? I got one and it's a POS, the string strands are hanging off the sides were is was cut and I cant even install it. I don't know if I just got a bad one and should send it back (I did NOT buy it from Pelican).

I did get mine from pelican and it too is made in Mexico. I did not install mine because it was too small in diameter, even with all shims in there.
I installed the Conti, it fit much better. |

Can't get it high enough to put the pulley half on. The continental 10 x 710 does fit very good and the one I have is made in Germany.

^^^ That was exactly my problem. It was my first fan belt job and had also initially installed the cup washer backwards, so after screwing my fan up somewhat, repairing it, and then installed it all correctly again, I still was not sure if maybe I had missed something. Now, thanks to you, I am getting just a tiny bit of redmption.
I wrote an e-mail to Wayne with my findings and measurements. He said he would be looking into it. |
