88 Speedster - CLUBSPORT, anyone seen one??

OK OK I know I'm still banging on about the Speedster thing.

(see thread: Phriday's photoshop (speedster) )

I was looking through a P book on the weekend and read a story on the 88 Speedster's.

The story ended with a description of the 88 Speedster "Clubsport" version which had:
the windscreen removed and replaced with an air deflector;
the passenger seat removed; and
a hard cover over where the pass'r seat was.

I recall seeing some motorshow pics somewhere along the line - can anybody dig up a pic of this car?? (I'm planning something similar).

I was hoping one the bigger fan websites (that seem to show every model ever made) might have a pic.

Cheers - Ryan

Ryan,

I have pics of something similar in a 911 guide book that I have at home. This thing was a prototype with bizarre finders, 993 style headlights and looked TOTALLY rediculous. Even for porsche standards.

I know this is totally useless to you but figured at least this half arsed reply could be better than nothing....

I remembered seeing a picture of something like that in a magazine the other day.
Found it.... the picture is tiny, so the scan will not be great. From an article in a 2000 Christophorus. Unfortunately, no details on the car.

There are at least three such cars that I know of (there could be more):
The one above was a one-off built by/for Peter Schutz. It has the std windshield, the small pexiglass lip, or the complete roof with the rare factory hardtop.
The red one above was built by a Frenchman on his Speedster, when he wanted to do the Clubsport version of the speedster. Very well done. He uses a helmet when he drives it this way.
There is a third one (see pic here), which is the prototype built by the factory to introduce the speedster. It seems there was a race series in the plans, but that never happened.
