help with dme wiring color code 89 911
Has anyone maped out the wire colors going to the dme for an 89 911. More specifically, there are 8 wires that go from the dash area to the main harness of the dme in an 89 911. I realize there are many more wires but 8 of them split off from the main harness and go to the dash. They are:
1. thick red wire - always on - battery 2. thick black wire - on with ignition on 3. med black wire - on with ignition on 4. thin yellow - on slightly with ignition on 5. green/yellow wire - ? 6. red/green wire? 7. thin black wire? 8. black and violet wire? Obviously wire one is to the battery. I would assume that wire 2 is for ignition. Any answers on the rest would be really appreciated! I've attached a photo of the wire are I am talking about. thanks! Yan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1292178123.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1292178295.jpg |
5. green/yellow wire - ?
6. red/green wire? Coil, wire to a safty flaser system so the coil is hot with the engine starting . 7. thin black wire? 12 volts to the DME relay 8. black and violet wire? is the tach drive |
The color codes your looking for are all documented in the Bentley service manual.
4. Yel goes to the ignition switch. ( pin 4 ) 5. The grn/yel goes to the air conditioning system. ( pin 29 ) 6. The Bentley shows that the red/grn goes to the Air Flow Sensor. ( pin 7 ) 7. Read comment for number 8 below. ( pin 11 ) 8. The blk/vio does go to the tach as Flat6pac has stated, but there is also a black wire that completes the loop. This may be your number 7. ( pin 21 ) I got this information from page 970-28. |
i'm on bentley (970-30/31) for an 89. Same colors. Are the colors usually accurate as far as the Bentley diagram goes? I just don't like paragraph 2 on page 900-4.
