Adam-
We worked on installing the cowl pieces today; we made enough progress to drill it out for welding. I put the work in a vice and drilled around 3/4"-1" intervals. More closely spaced holes for more complex or stressed areas. It didn't show up in the photo I took, but I made many more holes in the corner of the windshield gutter than in the straight portions. The dashboard section that flanges up to this cowl piece does NOT have holes in it. So now when we MIG weld, the welds plug the holes and bond to the underlying metal. ![]() If we ever get these things installed, I'll show you a pic of the completed effect! -d ------------------ Dave 1972 911T (E motor) RSR replica project http://members.nbci.com/dtwinters/garage/ |
