Why are there no resonably priced aero style mirror copies

Is it only me or is >$300 for a pair of used mirrors insane?

I would bet some China factory could replicate them for less than $100, covered in real carbon for $150.

So why cant I find any?

low demand = high cost per item

Low demand?

In that case the used ones that find there way out on Ebay would be cheap with only a few bidders. But they are not. In fact, I would call them "the most sought after mirrors in the world". They could be used as currency and hold there value better than gold.

And that's why it's a mystery to me why I cant find any cheap copies.

Is it possible that Porsche is guarding a copyright on the design?

I know they are keeping the Carrera-font from spreading. Threatening anyone trying to share it.

I ditched my flag mirrrors and went with one of these on the drivers side (no mirror on the passenger side). It was about $80:

Vitaloni Californian Mirror

They obviously aren't replicas of a factory mirror, but it works for what I needed. You can Google them or PM me for details.

Garage
My 25 year old heated, power flag mirrors still work great.
Ever driven a car with old Vitaloni mirrors? They suck. Always drooping, rubber bellows shrinking and separating, no power adjustment, etc.
These are facts of life.

No offense, P.G.

None taken. My car is now only a race car so I don't need the comforts: just something to see behind me during a race and I wanted them to have better aero.

The thing is I already bought a pair of used 993 teardrop mirrors. Now I'm thinking about making molds and starting to produce copies..

Maybe make some carbon copies for myself and sell the originals. They are quite heavy.

(sorry for the bad spelling)
