Show me your Center Console Substitute

Replacing the carpet in my '88. Have carpet over the center tunnel area and like the look of it with-out the console. Would like to eliminate the console but need a place to mount the switches and A/C controls that normally mount in the console. Any ideas/alternatives?
Thanks, Tom

Mount them to the underside of the dash. Very easily done in fact.
Each of the units (AC fan speed, AC temp control, hazards, rear defroster) can be removed from their housing, and you can remount the housing up under the dash, where you can see and reach them, but not hit them with the shifter. I've not seen it done, but having just redone my interior, know that it can be.
