Lurch upon Starting
Hello:
In the past two weeks my 84 Targa has been doing the oddest thing. When I turn the key to start it, the car lurches a bit, like the clutch is not held to the floor. Can this be a bad clutch disc? I don't even have 5000 miles on it yet. Thanks.

Start by checking for proper clutch adjustment . . .

Did you resurface the flywheel when you replaced the clutch plate? Might be a warped flywheel.

Clutch adjusted properly?
Age of clutch cable? Was the release fork replaced when you did the clutch? Roll pin intact on the pedal assembly?
