Relay Question
 
What is the relay for under the passenger seat and does anyone know the part number? Mine disintegrated when something was put under the seat and then lost in the leaves before I wrote the number down. I think my heater blower is now not working?

That is your frequency valve/O2 sensor relay. without it, the will run like crap. They are very generic. part# you want is 0 332 019 150. this is a Bosch p/n. hope this helps. 81'SC

Thanks for the help, the car runs well but only with 87 octane fuel. I'll post a response about the change in performance after I replace the sensor relay.

Since the cold weather hit (although it has warmed up again) a lot of my electrical contacts are going bad. ?Heater blower, Clock and the power radio antenna stopped working. Oh well, that is half the fun of a twenty year old car.

Start your troubleshooting at the Fusebox!
The flimsy, brass fuseholders (and the archaic, ceramic fuses) in our old cars are often corroded, causing high resistances and circuit failure.

Using an ink eraser, gently wipe the fuseholder contact surfaces until they are shiny clean. Finish with a spray of contact cleaner. The fuses themselves are often corroded as well. Replace them with the correct amperage value as listed in the Owners Manual. Dab the contact ends with a bit of copper grease for enhanced conductivity.

And finally, while you're servicing the fusebox, inspect the screw terminals where the wires attach to the fuse holders. They should be tight and free of corrosion. Also, check the connections for
signs of over-heating (a common problem, especially with the fuel pump fuse holder).

I am tracking down the relay and found it interesting that one local dealer wanted $42 the other $29 and Napa $8.86 for an equivelent (elgin relay).

I will start cleaning/checking the fusebox today.

I plugged in the new relay and my idle speed dropped and the engine stalled. It seems smooth if a maintain the idle with the accelerator. To drive home I unplugged the fuse for the o2 sensor/domelight.

Can I just increase my idle speed or do I need to adjust the fuel enrichment as well?
