1966 911 won't start. Merry Christmas?

Recently located to nj side of the lincoln tunnel right next to
NYC and it's getting cold - so
Want to put the pcar in a friends garage.

Won't start. First time in 10years. It
Needs a service anyway but never
Not had it fire...

Got a charger to help the cranking, i hear the fuel pump, smell gas and not firing.

Blue bosch coil in newer as is rotor, cap and these even platinum plugs.

Want a recommendation please of a place to tow it to for a once over, before putting it dry and warm for winter.

Well, old Porsche owners usually have a AAA card and/or full insurance coverage that have a tow option.

First thing, a FULL charged battery is a good thing, second shytecann those platinum plugs, waste of money, go with the copper plugs.

Third, when fully charged hit the intake with a shot of ether. If it coughs, you have spark. Coughs and runs.....yer good to go.

No cough, it's a spark issue. Likely a CD box issue.....is it whining with the ignition on?

if there's not a bunch of CDI stuff on it, then I'm with Marco....check your dizzy cap, rotor and clean/reset points. If it still doesn't start, then spray some carb cleaner or ether into your intake to see if you are getting enough fuel. But it sounds like an ignition (spark) issue to me.

Charge battery, push gas to floor and hold, crank. I bet it's flooded from cranking, plugs may be wet with gas.

To comment on your question about where to look for service in Northern NJ, ProtoSport in Pompton Plains 973-839-5353 does excellent work and Power Tech in Rockaway at 973-586-3210 is also highly regarded.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas! Roger

I vote for water in the fuel. It's been cold here in the North. If the water in the fuel dropped out of solution then the carbs are trying to fire on water. The fuel density is less than water so the pump pushed fuel to the carbs that were only partially full thanks to evaporation.

Pull the plugs, hose 'em down with brake fluid. Drain the carb bowls. Refill with new gasoline, be sure the shake the heck out of the container first. Dump a little fuel down each carb throat and fire it up.

Hmm, I'm upstate for a while or I would stop over and look, there are not many '66 originals around.

For background:

Before there was BHKZ: SWB engine electrics

I agree, NGK BP7ES plugs instead of that platinum stuff, set the points gap correctly or just replace the points entirely, make sure battery is charged to +12.5V or better.

Bosch "Blue" coil. . . a real blue or one of the Brazilian silver ones with a blue sticker on it?

Recent condenser? If condenser is shorted . . . that is a problem.

If you can post some photos I'll help you sort it out.

Good luck!
