What plugs for a euro SC ?
I have a Euro 1980 3.0 with 8.6:1 compression. Engine code 930/09. Does anyone know what sparkplugs I should use? The car presently has a set of Bosch Platinum WR5DP. My Bently manual says to use WR7DP in SC's, but this manual is meant for cars sold in the U.S. Anyone know? I do not have access to an owners manual.
-Thanks, Rob 1980SC |

Rob According to Haab's authenticity book your Euro (ROW)1980SC should have 9.8:1 compression ratio with engine type 930/09.Recommended spark plugs for your car are Bosch-W200T30 and Beru-200/14/3A. Hope this helps.

The factory manual lists BOSCH W4CC spark plugs for a Euro 1980 model year 3.0 SC, 188 DIN hp, no catalytic converter. However, the selection guide at www.bosch.de recommends W3CP spark plugs, but I think they are too cold for street usage.

Thanks for the info guys. There are just too many choices of plugs out there !
According to the Porsche 911 Performance Handbook the 1980SC ROW had 8.6:1 compression and 188hp with the 930/09 engine. Not until the '81-'83 ROW 911SC's did they get 9.8:1 and 204hp with the 930/10 engine. I bet they are noticeably quicker then mine. ![]() Thanks, Rob |
