H4/H5 Lighting Question
I was thinking of purchasing a set of used H5 assemblies for my '86, then upgrading the bulb to an H4. I already have round H4's with relay and the old sugar scoops, so this would be purely cosmetic.
After searching and reading a few H5 to H4 upgrade threads, it seems the only difference is the need to modify the female plug on 87+ cars using an adapter. I should have no issues with the electrical connection. The only question then is "can an H5 assembly be installed in a pre-87 car?" I vaguely remember reading there where some differences in mounting points, but can't find where I read it. Thanks.

Been there done that and all I can say is don't. H5 lights will fit but they cannot compare on any level to H4 Euro's. H4 Euro's are about 320.00 on e bay. H5 lights are plastic and the light pattern is inefficient and scattered. Spend the extra $ you will not be happy with H5 lights.

I'd leave the round H4s before I would install H5s. The light on those is kinda sucky...

For a little more than the price of a pair of H-4's you can have a set of these you just custom make them to the way you like them.

The upper (round) projector looks good but I think the lower oval one, functional or not, is hideous.. sorry.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback on the H5's, I definitely won't go that direction. I subscribed to the projector thread. I love the look on a hot rod, but my car is pretty much stock, so I may stick with the euro H4's.
