SC Door Lock Knobs... NOW WHAT???

I will never again sell off extra parts before the project is done!

That being said, can't change the past. I traded some internal door parts and now the square hole in my door lock knob is about 12 mm and the square shaft it's supposed to turn is only about 7 mm. What's going on?

Where are the rest of the parts, like the surround and the spacer?

Figured It Out... Sort of

Went and took my friend's door lock knob off his SC. That car has the larger shaft that would fit my knob, so once again I am dealing with some morphedite part I know not from what. If I can figure out where mine are from I could maybe get the right knobs, but more likely will have to change to the correct parts. I think my new not getting rid of stuff until the job's done policy is gonna work out real well.

The Answer

Posting an answer to my own post in case some other poor soul encounters this in the future. Apparently, the door parts I swapped with were from a later, '87 or so Carrera. Our host shows a different part number than for the earlier cars, reasonably priced, so I ordered a couple. Later model door lock knobs (left) have a smaller opening for the square shaft. The plastic cap is the same. Problem solved.
