Wires on Backup light switch w/ G50

My first engine/trans drop went excellent, no headaches or backaches to report. Thanks to all on the board who gave me the confidence to do it....by myself no less.

The only casualty I incurred was one of the wires that goes to the backup light switch on the right side of the transmission. One wire broke free from one of the connectors and I am not sure whether to just re-solder it or buy a new connector. This connector does not look like the typical male connector you would find at radio shack.....

Any suggestions?

I had to resolder mine when they were snipped by the previous owner or his mechanic. Eventually replaced the entire harness (harness includes starter, alternator, oil sender and warning light and maybe some other stuff) when I did my engine/trans. drop last winter. Harness is not cheap. Something like 115 smackers!!

Kiwior replaced his harness (86 Carrera) the year before last and one of the pin connectors came off the wire after this year's motor pull. Dealer didn't honor 2 yr. Porsche warranty for some reason. Said if he sent it to them they'd fix, not replace. Thanks, I think we can manage a soldering iron just fine!!!!!!

Moral:

Might as well solder yours if the harness is in good shape. You can take the severed connector and heat it up with the soldering iron to get the hunk of wire out. Then just solder the fresh wire in again!
