Fixed posts on hood crest
 

The posts on my hood crest/ badge/ emblem popped off, and after getting them out of the hood, decided to repair the unit to save spending $154 on a new one. I have ordered a new rubber seal and speed nuts.

Here's the backside of the crest, with the bolts snapped off:

I would be carefull with the JB weld repair.
I have no experience with it myself and I hear it is pretty strong but you do not want the crest to let go and bounce over your hood and windshield when you are doing 100mph....

I'd dash out for a new (or NOS) crest

This made me chuckle, my car hasn't worn an emblem until Santa brought one last week, it bugged me but not enough to outweigh all the other things she needed.

I'm up in the air as to how much stress will be put on the JB Weld after feeling how it does pull down on that badge more than I thought would be.....but worst case is you still need to replace it all together so give it a shot.

That's pretty funny because my OEM crest let go and bounced off what seemed to be my upper windshield at 70MPH. It must of hit just right because there was no visible damage done to the windshield or the paint. Factors like extreme heat/cold, removal of crest to repaint the hood, etc... are some factors why these posts let go sometimes.

btw, I hope the JB weld holds.

I use a decal anyway for weight reduction.

One other option for you might be to use a 3M emblem adhesive (or similar product) under the badge, to "help" the studs. Glue the badge to the rubber "gasket" and then glue that to the hood.

Another "HAT'S OFF!" to Pelican, as the new rubber seal and speed nuts arrived today. I must say, the new rubber seal actually makes the 25 year-old badge look new. I will give the temporary sticker to my son:)

Here is a photo, the badge back in place after this fix. Let's hope the JB Weld holds the posts!
