If you want rid of the problem once and for all - get a cat. If you have mice in the garage now - you'll have to let the cat into the garage for a few days to do its job. After that they will take care of mice by simply patrolling the perimeter. In addition you can say goodbye to moles, voles, and chipmunks.

Right on!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha my thread ^

So far the only thing that has worked is the car bag Carbag - Protective jackets for your car or motorcycle but for my daily drivers the war continues.

My winter anti-mouse efforts include the following:

1) ultrasonic repellers in all outlets in the garage
2) Moth balls near all sides of the car
3) glue traps surrounding all 4 tires
4) Bounce fabric softener sheets in the car and trunk (I read somewhere mice don't like the smll)
5) block the exhaust pipe

Get one of those thick, cushy, "all weather" car covers. Those cat claws wont be able to go through one of those. Then leave the cat out there in the garage to earn his keep ! :D

Lots of good ideas, but so many are actually more effort and expense than having a cat. As long as humans have lived in permanent settlements and wanted rid of rodents, we've had cats. Nature's perfect solution, and they're also proven to lower your blood pressure while they sleep on your lap.

A brown mouse, with brown feet, jumped upon my 911 seat.
A spring trap with peanut butter & oats lured him to the floor...
SNAP! Now the brown mouse is no more!

A brown mouse, who lived not far, found his way into my Porsche car.
A spring trap with peanut butter and oats caught his eye.
But the last thing through his mind was the trap bar and not why.

You still need to close the heater outlets on the HE's... pull the levers UP.

Mickey can jump about 12 inches.

Soft flannel car cover on the car.
Carbag enclosing the car.

Inexpensive mechanical traps baited with peanut butter around the car. After a dozen or so were sacrificed, strangely the count stopped.

Oil of peppermint. Put it on some cotton balls around the garage. I also put some in the trunk and on top of the engine. Under the car and tool box. Never had a mouse.
