strange VIN

Do any of you recognize this VIN?

353492

I ask because it supposedly comes from a 1969 911 roller currently on eBay. I already emailed the seller asking about it as I know 68 and 69 cars began with 118/119 and earlier cars had the 6 digit vin beginning with "3" but I can't find any in my sources that begin with 35XXXX. (BTW, haven't heard back from the seller yet.)

Anybody have an answer? Could it be an assigned VIN?

6-digit VIN's starting with 35 were 912's - 353492 would be a '66

Thanks Andy. So the car in question, which looks to be a LWB from the pictures and is advertised as a 69, likely had a front clip.

The oil tank is 911, maybe even the later type. The seat rails are pre-SC. Looks liek the car is going to need floor pans. The wheels may very well be worth the $500.

in the pic of the engine bay/oil tank, it looks like you can see where the 912 mount was. 911 rails there are smooth, this one has a couple of vertical ridges. right under the oil filter.

Agreed!

However, the position of the rear torsion bar hole and wheel indicate a LWB car. Cannot see the drain holes for the sunroof though--66 would be in the roof, 69 in the channel of the engine compartment. If the entire body was a 66, that seems to be too much work to move the rear suspension, IMO. I still suspect a grafted front clip.
