Hi Pelicans - I am installing parking brake shoes on my trailing arm - the old assembly was completely stripped down.
I'm trying to get the castle nut on the end of the cable. I can't get enough of the threads to show without squeezing the assembly with both hands (therefore I am unable to thread the castle nut on to the end of the cable). I've not loosened the jam nuts at the inner portion of the cable yet, I was thinking I should preserve the settings here. Have I messed up the order of operations here? What is my next step? And any other tips? Thanks, Pelicans! |

No need to preserve settings, as the addition of new shoes negates any previous settings.
You still have about an inch of travel left, on top of the jam nuts - loosen them all the way up to the cable end. Press down the captured nut with your thumbs to gain another inch. This is do-able. Where's the star adjuster? Bill K

Easy peasy.
Orient your open end wrenches about 3 inches apart and just squeeze. Use of the BFHammer is allowed to close the 3 inch wrench gap. Also, make sure both sides have the same amount of thread exposed when you're done. Bill K
