Big Red Brakes!

Another dumb question from me. My left front brake is squeaking so I decided to clean the pad and spray a little of that brake stuff to help it stop squeaking. Now the dumb part, after removing the clip do I just simply pull the pads out or what? They seem stuck in the pretty tight and I do not want to break something.

You have an SC, right? Are the brakes stock?

They are not stock. I put a set of turbo "big red" on them. I think the pads are just tight but I did not want to screw something up.

Cool!!

The pads lift out from the top once you remove the clip/spring doohicky.

Pushing the pistons back into the bores a bit will help them come out much easier.

What did you plan to spray on the pads, by the way? Brake pads that have an aggressive material will squeal no matter what.

If it persists, try posting or searching over on the 964/993 forum as those brakes are obviously common to those 911s.

Well I took the caliper off and the pad actually had clips on the back of them that slid into the cups of the pistons. two of them were loose and fell out when i pulled the pad. I am guessing that was the squeak. do you think i even need those clips becuase i do not!

If they were there, I would say put them back. Maybe you could manipulate them to fit better into the piston cups.

You should post this in the other forum and get the opinion of those who have these brakes, though. There may be other options.

Check this out, Dave!

You may not need the "spiders" afterall.

For what it's worth, my Big Reds squeak sometimes, but seems to be from brake dust accumulation. A good washing makes the squeak go a way.

I removed the "spiders", cleaned them up and sprayed that sticky red brake non-squeak mess on the backs of them and problemn is solved for the time being.
