is this a speedometer cable? Do I need a new speedo?

I pulled this out of my 78 SC in the process of installing an 83SC motor. Of course, the gearbox sensor is electronic, and this cable had no place to go. So I disconnected it from the speedometer.

Now I'm wondering if I have to get a new speedometer that will accept the electronic reading???

yea, the speedo is a mechanical unit with a cable attachment.

I guess I'll need an electrical unit.

SC's have electronic speedos. That speedo is from an older car. You should be able to just put in a later speedo. I have a really nice extra one if you need one. PM me.
