2011 New Year's Day Drive - SF Peninsula

I know a lot of us really enjoyed last year's drive. However, from my perspective, I didn’t enjoy Alpine (due to the roughness of the road) and the fact we just kind of just abruptly ended the tour at skyline (no real end point to continue our discussions ). So I put together three possible routes. Also, I have submitted the drive to PCA from a liability perspective.

Well it is offical... we have PCA liability coverage for the event

Not meaning to hijack Chris’ post, but Marin is just too far of a start for a News Day. So I thought I would see who is interested in a dive similar to last years drive starting a 280/92 Crystal Springs Reservoir. I will post a route later. Anyone interested?

I'm not feeling hijacked at all--I promise. I realize that Marin isn't an easy jaunt for a lot of folks...............

It seems a shame to split this ride, north vs south Wouldn't it be much better to stay together and meet somewhere in the middle?

I was willing to drive up to the north bay, but obviously closer would be better for the south bay crowd.

How about something on the East bay? there must be some good routes there.

I'm with Matt, let's see if we can come up with a good compromise. Peninsula/South Bay-ish would be nice, but East Bay would work too.

I am game....for a Bay Area drive New Years Day 2011, Peninsula/South Bay/East Bay. Nothing wrong with duplicating or part of the same route as last year. I am 1.5 miles from Crystal Springs 280/92.

Driving north is AWESOME, but.... I might just wait and go North to Occidental later. I am organizing a similar planned drive on June 18th, 2011 from the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Pt.....up to Occidental.

Like this year (2010)

I would be interested in a drive closer to home. One on the peninsula or East bay would be great. Still throwing around the idea of driving up to Marin.

ntrylvl makes a good point about having 50+ P cars on a line. It's pretty rare and, I think we can all agree, special. So I'm really torn. Obviously a drive that's more South Bay friendly would be preferrable. It's 100 miles for me to just get to the starting point of the North Bay drive, but that it's being pushed back an hour does help. I'm honestly torn. Leaning more towards a Santa Cruz Mountain drive at the moment.

I'm torn too, last year's drive was really well attended and that added to the excitement. One of my favorite shots from the bunch I took last year:

I'll be in the Santa Cruz Mountian group, if anyone's taking a head count. Should be fun. jesiv, you got a route in mind?

I'm down for this drive. Sounds like it will be a bit more practical for me. Plus, I just freaking love the roads in the Santa Cruz mountains.

New Years Day drives have already been divided up as Redwood Region is having a drive to Occidental from Novato. A repeat drive Dede and I put together earlier this year and are planning as a Zone 7 event this year.

I learned about this tour moments after I RSVP for the one up North... since I live South of the Bay, I'm going to favor the roads between Santa Cruz and San Francisco, all of them ...keep me in the loop, I'm new in this forum, will try to figure it out.
