Can someone educate me on Porsche Steering Wheel Logos/Emblems

I'm new to Porsche vehicles and I'm trying to learn what I can. Regarding the steering wheel emblems............... Which models or years got that colored steering wheel emblem or was that an option you could order? I love the look of the colored emblem on the steering wheel as well as on the center caps on the fuchs rims but not everyone has it. I have a 1984 Porsche 911. Was that an option for that car or did it only come on certain years and models or turbo's?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

Justin

The ones you see are usually small emblems from a 356 that people have added. I do believe that some original 930S models came with colored crests assymetrically placed on the 4 spoke rectangular pad--likely a custom option. Many people add them to aftermarket 3 spoke "930S" steering wheels as well. As far as I know they were not a normal option for any impact bumper cars (74-89).

Many of the factory 930S cars had the normal wheel with the small crest on the right side of the horn pad.

There is also the so called 930S wheel that has a small crest in the center.

Some of the SC type wheels (3 spoke) will have small crest on the horn pad. I saw it recently in an old Porsche catalog from the late 70's early 80's time era.

Many people have added their own over the years also like m110 says.

Are you talking about oem steering wheels or the Momo/Nardi's many people have with the crest horn button?

I was talking about the OEM steering wheels. M110 is showing my exact year car with the emblem. So that is an add on and not an option? I love that look. I want to keep my car as original as possible so I wasn't sure if I should add one to the car or not. Very cool with the color inside the all black 3 spoke 84 steering wheel. What do you guys think? Car currently has 33K original miles and is all stock. I really like the crests in the center caps of the fuchs. My car has the original phone dials. One day soon I will be trying to find some 16 inch 7's and 8's.
