Anyone know how to change the inflatable spacesaver spare tire?
Anyone know what 'special' procedures are needed to change the inflatable spare ('74 on) from the stock steel wheel to another wheel? I just read an article in "Excellence", which implies that it's not as simple as changing a regular tire. I've seen the inflatable spares on fuchs but never asked how it was done. Now I want to do it.

If it's the same article I read it casts quite a bit of doubt as to whether that's possible, or even a viable tire anymore. If removed from it's special rim it may go from "maybe not good anymore" to "completely useless"
Same article seemed to indicate these might be regarded more as "trunk art" than useful 30± years later and you were better off w/ a bottle of Slime and a small compressor like the new cars have. ....so if you are just wanting to see a Fuchs wheel in your bonnet, wrap it w/ some rubber till it looks clothed in a space saver tire :D |
I carry tire plugs and a compressor. Slime sucks....

i carry rubber plugs, rope plugs and just bought a relatively new inflatable spare to cover the 930 caliper from dC Automotive
