Engine cover question
Hi all:
My first post, but have been reading for the last several months since I bought my 1976 911S Targa. I have a quick question; I am in the final stages of putting the engine back into the car. I removed the engine to clean it up, and the engine compartment ( see before and after photos). Now to my question, the rear engine cover where the wire harness is, am I missing a piece of the cover, or is there an insert? From what I can tell, these 2 pieces should connect. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks! |

There is a piece of tin that should span and overlap the bell housing and engage its counterpart piece of shrouding. It also is notched to accept the rubber block wiring grommet.
Beautiful work, by the way, and one heck of a first post. Congratulations! Brian

Don't see too many people make use of a chain saw for engine removal.
Any tips you'd like to share?

People around here never miss anything! I had to go back to see that! (My guess is to cut 2x4's to make the engine stable!)

You did a hell of a cleanup job, wish my engine looked like that.

I used the chainsaw, to cut the car in half to remove the engine!
