CIS W.U.R. 73 1/2 superceded
May be buying a new warm up regulator. The 73 1/2 has been supereded to a later model. What are the differences? I heard that Porsche issued a bulletin recommending the the use of 1975 WUR. Anyone enlighten me?

they look like all the later units. it comes with an adapter kit of fittings, so you can attach your black plastic hose to it. special hose holding tool required or you'll never get the hose over the barbs on the fitting. then you need a late style snap on connector to splice the power wire to. the other terminal in the connector is attached to ground.

John send me some pictures awhile ago and an adjustment screw was mentioned to better control the low and high side pressures. Thsi may be in the tech. notes here as well. I found an original (73.5) brand new unit still in the boxand it was adjustable. Some folks push down the plunger, but it can create a problem of too rich conditions. Bringing the plunger up is another issue!
John......if your reading this it would be great to find a source who could take these WURs and install the adjustment screw. I know if I had bought a newer unit I would immediately come to you for the job. The updated versions do just fine but the electrical connector is different then the original in that it has a two prong fitting, one for the ground wire to the engine and the other to the electrical heat source. You will have to do a bit of splicing. No matter what unit you buy, setting the pressures is CRITICAL and that will have a great deal to do with cold start performance. Regards Bob 73.5T |

I just used Jim's procedure to intall some replacement nylon tubing. As he notes, be sure to get extra tubing as it took me three tries to get both ends put on properly. I also messed up the collar and was glad I ordered an extra collar as well. That said, it was quite straightforward. I ordered the parts from McMaster and they were in stock and delivered in 3 days.
