Looking for your opinions on this (and I know veryone here loves to voice their opinions)
I just put these headlight grills on last night. What do you think? I've never seen these on a 911 but it sure does lend a sporty touch! (sorry I couldn't take a full frontal pic in the dark. My digi cam's flash is not that great.)

If I still had the sealed beams on my car I would consider it, I like it.

I like it, but would like to see a photo of the entire front of the car. I think it adds a cool retro look. And it's functional to boot! -- Curt

I like them too - very retro. I think I saw a pair up for sale on ebay recently. Are your head light trim rings black or chrome?

Two thumbs up. I've been trying to find these for H-4s.
Where did you get them?

At the risk of starting another 'improved valve adjustment tool' debacle
, I was actually considering having chrome stoneguards fabricated to fit the H1/H4 lights (although I don't know if they'll look 'right' until they're on!!). I have a connection with a guy who does highend restoration work on Duesenburgs, Cords, etc. This guy has connections who can fabricate just about anything, and these would be fairly simple. I think. I'll report back. Don't send any money yet. -- Curt

Hey...no debates here. too unproductive!
I'm just sharing thoughts and ideas. I picked these up at last year's Techno Classica in Essen, Germany (supposedly Europe's biggest classic car show and definitely one of the biggest in the world. Highly recommended). I paid a whopping $15.- for them. Small price for what I think is a huge gain. Gives a nice vintage racing feel. Even if I've never seen a vintage 911 packing these

Phoenix
Are there any labels/names/boxes that might indicate the manufacturer or source? I'd sure like to track these down. Thanks

Clark: unfortunately no. these were lying loose on a table with headlights and headlight systems from '20-'30's mercedes, and such. they're great quality but definitely not of that era (remakes?).
when i bought them i wasnt sure they'd fit. i had to give convince the guy to let me take them to the hall with '70's porsches and then convince the guy running the p display to let me lay them over the headlights so i could see what they'd look like (ironically they had a '73 sitting there which was also oxford blue / dalmation). i thought they looked great but others didn't . definite polarization on this one. i would think you could find them at swap meets catering to cars from the '20-'30's. you could always visit this years show in essen. it's well worth the time and effort. i'm thinking of going and also renting a new 996 for a day to hit the autobahn with. now if i could only convince my boss i need a raise.....

I am sure Wayne could get them.
They are pictured on the cover of the last Tweeks cataloge. I believe they are from the 356.

Seems like all flash and no class. What good are they? For small stone chip protection FOCUS Headlight protectors makes more sense to me. Perhaps I don't "get it"??

Sometimes I wish I'd encased my whole car in that chickenwire. I will always bemoan the Phoenician philosophy of landscaping: lots and lots of little pebbles, which magically migrate to every street and highway.
Seriously, though: looks cool!
